| UNFFE Agricultural Trade Fair Targets Value Addition |

The Uganda National Farmers Federation (UNFFE) organisers of the annual Source of the Nile National Agricultural and Trade Show, are aiming at increased agricultural production and value addition in the forth coming Trade Fair. ![]() The Fair, set for July 20th to 26th at the Jinja Show Ground, will be the 17th Trade Fair since its inception in 1993 and together with the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries, UNFFE has set a theme "Promoting Value Addition in Agricultural Production for Poverty Eradication' that befits the Millenium Goal of eradicating extreme poverty and hunger as well as the Government's Plan for the Modernisation of Agriculture (PMA), Poverty Eradication Action Plan (PEAP) and prosperity for all (PFA). Rwakakamba Morrison, the Manager Policy and Advocacy UNFFE said: "The show acts as a platform for identifying produts and contacts to the products. This exposure will come from new production techniques and processes, agro chemicals, agro equipments, forestry resources, environment conservations, energy resources, food stuff production, preservation and marketing." "We have exhibitors from here and across the East African region; this creates an opportunity to share experiences, facilitate policy interface and provide a learning opportunity for scaling up new innovations" Rwakakamba added. Meanwhile the UNFFE Vice President Ogong Charles Hilton said that they are carrying out consultations with local districts to see that regional and district agricultural shows are organised to bring closer rural farmers and those who cannot come to Jinja to benefit from such programs.
